Simply You (Once Upon A Sketch August Challenge)

Amidst all the DT deadlines and requirements that I create under lately (don't get me wrong - I LOVE IT!  In fact, I have a new DT announcement over which I am thrilled and that I will be able to share with you soon!  So stay tuned!), I took the time today to create a layout just for the fun of creating.

I was inspired by the current challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch
that is to pay tribute to the 'men in our lives'.

Well, I have one particular man in my life which I hold so dear to my heart
and I know that I've scrapbooked him time and time again,
but I will never be able to express enough
how so very happy he makes me and how blessed I am to love him and to be loved by him.

Yves, this one is for you! :)

Of course, Once Upon a Sketch gave us a beautiful sketch to use designed by Nadia.

I decided to flip the sketch horizontally and put the picture on the left side.  I also added a miniature version of the vertical layering on the lower right side.

The paper collection used is Simple Stories Documented.

I love using tags on almost all my layouts - they are perfect for adding a little layer of color and of course for journalling which is the basis of the Once Upon a Sketch challenges.

When you slip out the tag, you see the beginning of my journalling...

with the rest on the black of the tag.

I've also added a nice quote to emphasize my journalling theme.

Love the kraft grid background and the look of corrugated cardboard
dabbed with walnut stain distress ink and white paint.

One last look at the man in my life!

Thank you for dropping by!

I'll be back soon with some more of my weekend creations!
