Butterfly 'Curiosity' Card (Kaisercraft-inspired)

It's time to share another project that i had created for Kaisercraft as part of their 2nd round of DT selection a few months back.

I used some beautiful Kaisercraft products as papers from the Curiosity collection, a crochet doily, some paper blooms and this gorgeous wooden butterfly, that i covered with clear crackle paint.

I have so much paper left over from the stash that Kaisercraft sent me to create these projects that i was thinking i could give some away (along with a few more of their products) sometime next month.  What do you think?  Check back in the few weeks and maybe it'll be your lucky day!

Thank you for stopping by to see my creations!

You & Me (KaiserCraft inspired)

A few months back, I applied for the KaiserCraft DT and much to my amazement, I was picked for the 2nd round of the selection process.  I was so excited to be chosen amidst their 20 finalists!  The company sent me papers (LOADS of papers) from 2 of their upcoming collections with which i was asked to create 2 layouts, 2 cards and 1 off-the-page project.  I unfortunately didn't make the final cut into their DT, but i am super happy to have made it that far.  Over the course of the next few weeks, i will share with you the 5 projects that i created using the papers they sent me, from their now released collections, Curiosity and St Nicholas.

I really wanted to create a double-page layout to show my love for them and my ability to create a beautiful design that spans 2 pages.  For at least my first 5 years of scrapbooking, i only did double-pages and i still love them.

I obviously used a lot of KaiserCraft products like their wooden shapes and flourishes, their paper flowers, rub-ons and bling.

Such pretty papers...  I have so much left over that i can't wait to start creating with them again soon!

Thank you KaiserCraft for seeing the potential in me!  The very first scrapbooking challenge i won was one of their Saturday Sketch challenges and it was also my first ever blogpost back in 2011.  Since then, i've come a long way and my creativity has grown in so many ways.

Inspire (Bird Is The Word DT Reveal)

We have a very 'inspirational' word today with the newest Bird Is The Word challenge...

***INSPIRE***

and we hope that you will be inspired by this wonderful sketch by BITW's sketch designer, Heather.

I loved this sketch and couldn't wait to use it as the base design for this layout.

My niece Daphne looks so lovely in this picture taken at one of her cheerleading competition.  She was inspired to do her very best, and that's what she did.  She and her sister Ella love cheerleading!

I used a lot of Prima flowers as well as Dusty Attic bloom on this layout.  And nothing like Zva Creative bling to accent all those pretty blooms.  Zva always has the perfect color bling to go with any page.

I hope you will BE INSPIRED by my layout and play along with us at Bird Is The World this month.

Thankful (My Creative Sketches October GDT)

Even though i tend to do more single layouts lately, you know that my first love, ever since i started scrapbooking, has been double-pages.  This month, at My Creative Sketches, you get double the inspiration!

I loved working with this sketch which was the basis for my Thankful layout shared with you during my October DT reveal for My Creative Scrapbook.  This page was created using this month's Creative kit.  To learn more about the MCS kits, click HERE.

As you can see, I replaced background circle with a border-punched rectangle and used 2 pictures instead of 3.  You can take any sketch and make it fit your needs like i did, which makes them so easy to work with.  I love double-page sketches that overlap from one side to the other like this one does.

If you never create double-page layouts, i dare you to come out of your comfort zone and use this sketch as inspiration.  Link up your creation HERE before November 15th.  You could win one of these awesome prizes:

Prize #1 (for anyone who creates a double-page layout)

Prize #2 (for all participants, single or double-page)

See  you tomorrow for my DT reveal with Bird Is The Word!

Live Laugh Love (CS Sketch #253)

I was instantly inspired this morning when I saw Sketch #253 at Creative Scrappers that i immediately went into my scraproom and started creating...

Some Zva Creative bling and some Prima papers and flowers later, and i came up with this layout.

I used a variety of glimmer mists, distress stains and smooch spritz on the background, then added some gesso and pink paint.

Love the blend of crystals and pearls in the Zva Creative flourish.

Crackle paint also leaves a fabulous effect on any piece of chipboard.

Thank you for visiting and following my blog!  I am grateful for each and every person who I can inspire with my creations and am always happy to read your comments and feedback.

And before i go...

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians!

Imagine LO (2Crafty Sponsors SATW)

I was so thrilled when I found out that 2Crafty Chipboard would be sponsoring the October challenge at Scrap Around The World.  That means that us 2Crafty DT girls were asked to create a special layout inspired by this month's mood board to be featured on the SATW blog.  And today is the day!

Take a look at this 'fresh and modern' mood board from Jessy Christopher as well the fabulous sketch designed by Jules!

I decided to turn the sketch clockwise to better align my single-photo layout.

The first thing that inspired me from the pretty images was the touch of blues, pinks and yellows amidst the white, especially the blue.  Since I don't get to scrapbook that color very often (no reason in particular), I knew that I wanted to make it the central focus of my layout.

The beautiful intricate edge of the vases also inspired me to use paper doilies as well as a lace doily punch.  On top of the doily, i used the Imagine Title.

Here, you see part of the oval Frame Flourish 5 tucked behind a flower cluster.

I treated all my 2Crafty chipboard the same way, using molding paste, different shades of blue Glimmer Mists and Smooch paint, then dabbed them with white.

On the left is one half of a Journaling Frame.

And a beautiful, whimsical Butterfly Frame.

I love the textured look on this butterfly.  Molding paste is my new best friend!

The other half of the Journalling Frame.

The picture of my niece Ella in her blue butterfly wings fit in just perfectly.

Now don't waste another creative minute and gather up your inspiration to play along with the SATW October Mood Board!  Check out all the details HERE!  You could win some amazing prizes including a very special chipboard package from 2Crafty.

My Journey To You (OUAS October Challenge)

I'm back today to share my take on the October challenge at Once Upon A Sketch.  It's a good one!

The challenge is use the word 'The journey...' as journalling theme for your layout based on this sketch:

The first thing that comes to mind when i hear the word 'journey' is my life before Yves and my life now with Yves.  The journey to him has not always been easy - there were a lot of tears shed and a lot of wondering if i would ever find someone to love me for who i am and for me to love wholeheartedly.

In 2006, Yves and i met and i stopped wondering.

There is no doubt in my mind that he is the one that i have been searching for all those years and the one with whom i want to share the rest of my life's journey.

I included the journalling on a tag that i tucked behind the picture.

The background of my layout was masked using molding paste, stamped and then misted with Glimmer Mists.

I love these crystal flourishes and flowers from Zva Creative!

One more look at the happy couple! :)

What does the word 'Journey' inspire you to create?  Join me and link up your layout at Once Upon A Sketch before end of day October 25th for the chance to win some awesome prizes and a GDT spot in December.  If you play along, leave me a comment with a link to your creation - i would love to see! :)
