LOVELY - Single Page Layout
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'A Song of Spring' Kit)

Hello!  I hope you are having a wonderful day filled with creativity!
I am hoping to inspire that creativity today with another
layout featuring the Scraps of Elegance 'A Song of Spring' April kit.

I am absolutely loving the colour scheme of this page.
It is so perfect for Spring with its soft pastel lilac and mint green.
Below you can see a close-up of the pretty flowers included in the Floral Add-On:
a combination of blooms from Prima and 49 and Market.

This pretty badge from ScrapBerry's seemed like the perfect accent
for my layout.  Look at how it matches with the colors in the girls' adorable dresses!

As soon as I saw this design on the 49 and Market paper, I knew I had to use it somehow!
I love how the hot air balloons just seems to peek out from underneath
the ripped green background paper as if they are far away in the distance.
The grey layered birds add even more depth to the entire scene.

I am so blessed that my friends let me scrap their daughters' pictures.
Look at these adorable little girls!

Let's take another look at the Scraps of Elegance kit and add-ons I have played with this month.

TOGETHER - Single Page Layout
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'A Song of Spring' Kit
& Scraps the Girls May Challenge)

I told you I would be back with more Scraps of Elegance creations,
so here I am today with another SOE-filled layout to share!

I have been eyeing the challenges over on the Scrap the Girls blog for a while now,
and finally I have taken the time to play along, and hope to do so regularly from now on.
Of course, as the title of the blog suggests, the main premise of their challenges
is to 'scrap the girls' (no boy allowed!) and seeing that I have 2 beautiful nieces,
that is fairly easy criteria to follow for me!

The May Challenge is dedicated to mothers - you can find the details HERE.

I decided to scrap a lovely photo of my mother and her granddaughters.
Not having had any kids myself, I am so happy that my mother
has been blessed with 2 amazing granddaughters and is able
to enjoy being a grandmother via my brother and his wife's little family.
It warms my heart to see them having fun together!

As you probably know by now, the Scraps of Elegance April kit
features stunning papers from both Blue Fern Studios and 49 and Market.
The background of this layout is from the gorgeous 49 and Market
'Scents of Nature' collection.  Look at that gorgeous artwork!

And of course, I added lots of pretty 49 and Market flowers to my page
including some pretty pieces from the 'Wings & Things' layered embellishment set.
To make them match my colour palette, I covered the blue flowers
with pink Copic markers to made them purple.  Others beautiful flowers are from Prima.

Here's another detailed look at the stunning design on this paper.
You can also see that I slipped behind my photo a few of the Ephemera Die Cuts
from Ultimate Crafts that is found in the Elements Add-On.

A close-up of my nieces with their Mémère... what a delightful trio!

I hope you've enjoyed looking at this layout!

WITH BRAVE WINGS SHE FLIES - Tag
(More Than Words DT - May Mini Challenge)

Are you ready for a Mini Challenge?

Well, ready or not, the May Mini Challenge from More Than Words
has gone live, and here is my take on it:

The Mini word this month is SHE.
Click HERE to find out all you need to know about the Mini Challenge
and to see gorgeous inspiration from the More Than Words DT.
Remember that in order to participate, you have to share your project
on the More Than Words FB page right HERE by the end of the month.

I am so thrilled on how this tag turned out.
I knew from the start that I wanted to use this lovely quote
that I found on some Bo Bunny Penny Emporium papers.
I also added the word SHE by using metal alpha brads.

To go along with the steampunk image, I added lots
of metal to my tag (it is VERY heavy!) which I colored
using a matte silver sharpie.  All the flowers are from Prima.

These beautiful wings are from ScrapBerry's and the vintage charm was
from a set that I found during a shopping trip to Michael's.
I misted my tag with a little bit of rust spray and sprinkled lots of microbeads,
and as a final touch, I dabbed everything with some white paint.

Thank you for visiting!

SPRING TREASURE - Single Page Layout
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'A Song of Spring' Kit
with Berry71bleu & ARTastic May Challenges)

Hello!  I have some more DT projects to share with you over the next few days
featuring the bloomingly beautiful Scraps of Elegance April kit, 'A Song of Spring'.

Speaking of Spring, today's share pays homage to this fabulous season.

I was inspired by 2 challenges in the creation of this page.

The Berry71bleu May Mood Board is called 'Spring Blooms and New Life'.
How lovely and inspiring are those images!

The ARTastic May Challenge seems to fit in perfectly with the whole Spring theme.
This amazing painting is called The Garden and is from New Zealand artist, Michael Sass.
The criteria for the Artastic challenge is to use flowers which of course I did.  I always do!

I think pretty much every normal person loves Spring
just simply for the fact that it is so refreshing and rejuvenating to see
the trees starting to leaf and flowers to bloom FINALLY
after an always too long Winter, especially here in Canada.
I don't have much of a green thumb so obviously I don't garden much,
but when we bought our house 5 years ago, we were blessed
to also get a very nice flower bed in front of it full of perennials including
gorgeous tulips that bloom every Spring without me having to lift a finger.

The picture used on my page is not of my tulips however as they are not quite fully
bloomed yet (I told you... long Canadian Winter!).
It is a Desktop Wallpaper image that I found online right HERE

I had a lot of fun with the 49 and Market 'Wings & Things' layered embellishment
set included in the SOE Elements Add-On.  The beautiful floral wreath, branches
and little hummingbirds were the perfect decorations for my page
combined with a pretty pink flower flair from ScrapBerry's.

You can see here glimpses of some gorgeous 49 and Market patterned paper.
I added a few Sweet Lilac Crystal Drops from the main kit for some added color and texture

All together, it makes for a very flowery layout!

Thank you to Berry71bleu and ARTastic for the inspiration
and Scraps of Elegance for the gorgeous kits!

LIFE'S A BEACH - Single Page Layout
(ScrapBerry's DT & Dusty Attic May Challenge)

I created this beach-theme layout for my 2nd May DT reveal for ScrapBerry's.
It was inspired by the current challenge on the Dusty Attic blog.

I found the perfect patterned papers for this mood board in 2 ScrapBerry's collections
from my stash: Antique Shop and Holiday Romance.  I also used a few images
from the Cards papers from Mediterranean Dreams. I love how the Holiday Romance
'Nostalgia' patterned paper with its blue sky and seagulls match the sky in my photo.

You can also see below that I incorporated some Chicken Wire Panel
and a beautiful Flourish piece from DA.  The Flourish was covered with
Imagine Ink white embossing powder and dabbed with a little blue paint.

I added some ScrapBerry's sea-themed metal charms from different sets
as well as beautiful Polymer items from the Sea 3 set.

 Lots of pretty seashells!

Don't you just love this rustic wood background paper from
the Antique Shop collection?  It's called very fittingly 'Ocean Depths'.

I am so lucky to live close to the ocean and be able to
take these beautiful scenic shots of the sea.

I hope that I've inspired you to create your own beach-theme project.

NOUVELLE DEMEURE (New Home) - Card
(Simon Says Monday Challenge)

A friend asked me to create a card for a new home, and lo and behold,
I checked the challenge on the Simon Says Monday Challenge Blog
and it just happened to be 'Home Sweet Home'!

What a happy coincidence!

I kept my card very simple with no mixed media and just a little handmade stitching.
I wanted to put the emphasis on the black chipboard house and that little red heart
on top of the chimney!  I tied everything together with some natural burlap ribbon.

I absolutely love the way it turned out!

LIFE IS SWEET, TASTE IT RIGHT NOW - Single Page Layout
(Creative Scrappers DT - #306 Sketch Challenge)

It's my turn to showcase my take on sketch #306 on the Creative Scrappers blog!
It is a fairly bittersweet post as it is my last one as part of the CS DT.
My term is up and it's time to step down and give someone else the opportunity.

If you haven't played along with the CS May sketch challenge, you still have a couple weeks.
Click HERE for all the details and to see daily inspiration from all the fabulous DT.

Here is my take:

...and here is sketch #306:

I wanted to go bright and happy for this layout, in celebration of Spring
which is finally here, and which means that Summer is just around the corner!

Using a combination of ScrapBerry's Tropics and Mediterranean Dreams collections,
I was able to create a very fun 'citrus-y layout to go along with this picture of me
taken 12 years ago on an orange/grapefruit-picking excursion in Orlando, Florida.

I found that the rectangle shapes on the sketch allowed me to play
with different patterned papers and were perfect to do some handmade stitching.

Life is good & sweet, indeed!

A big THANK YOU goes to Kristine Davidson for having me on her team!
What a wonderful time I've had creating with her fabulous sketches
and alongside an amazing group of ladies!

SO CUTE - Double-Page Layout
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'A Song of Spring' Kit
& Scrapbook & Cards Today INSD Sketch Challenge)

If you haven't seen the newest Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance kits yet,
I urge you to go take a look right HERE as they are beautiful and not to be missed!

Today I am sharing with you my first project using the Scraps of Elegance
'A Song of Spring' kit (details of kit contents is at the end of the post)
along with some products from the Elements and Floral Add-Ons.

Last Saturday was (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day and there was a huge
celebration over at the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog with loads of inspiration, prizes
with this fabulous sketch challenge kicking it all off.  I love double-pages and
I knew that this sketch would be the perfect start off point to use with my new SOE kit.

Since I intended to create this page for my friend to put in her daughter's album,
I wanted to keep it sweet, simple and clean, with just a touch of mixed media.
Most of my layouts end up being so thick with embellishments and flowers
that they are impossible to slip into an album plastic protective sheet,
so I keep them in huge plastic bins.  I have about 6 so far! :)

I chose white cardstock for my background and then picked some of the softest
designs out of the gorgeous patterned papers in the kit.

As you can see, I sprinkled some of the Ranger Glitter Glass Shards on
and around my flower clusters.  To make the tiny pieces stick, I use spray adhesive.

I also used some flowers from the Scraps of Darkness Floral Add-On.

I wanted to use lots of butterflies on this page to complement these lovely
Springtime photos so I added a few from the 49 and Market layered embellishment
pack and the Ultimate Crafts die cuts, both available in the Elements Add-On,
as well as a chipboard one found in my own stash.

I hope you enjoyed looking at this double-page.  I know I enjoyed created it!

Thank you Scrapbook & Cards Today for the inspiration
and a huge thank you to Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance kits
