TIME IS A GREAT STORYTELLER Mixed Media Canvas
(Daily ART DT & Mixed Media & Art February Challenge)

Today I have a mixed media project to share with you that
I created as part of my Daily ART DT requirements.

I was inspired by the Time mood board and sketch by Mixed Media & Art.

I love the antique feel of these images...
My main inspiration were feathers and the old book pages,
reminding me of this beautiful quill pen I've had since 1996 as a souvenir
of a once in a lifetime trip to the UK. I bought it at Shakespeare's birthplace.
I thought it would be awesome to incorporate it some mixed media art.

Let's take a closer look on how I created this canvas.

I started off with a Hardboard Plaque #10 and created some layering by adding a few Small Shape Frames, some flowers and a Plaque #4. I stuck the quill pen on the hardboard using 3D foam squares. I then added several metal and paper flowers as well as metal and chipboard cogs and gears.

My next step was to cover everything with some White Gesso.

I love teal and aquamarine greens so I started off with the Pine Green and Emerald Glossy Ink Sprays to create this palette, then adding a little Aubergine. Then, I used the Copper and Bronze Glimmer Ink Sprays on the outer edge of my canvas. Wanting to add even more shimmer, I dabbed some Dark Gold Metallic paint over all the elements.

And because one cannot ever get enough sparkle, next came the Gold Glitter Paste!

I added my title painted in Dark Gold Metallic Paint and a small clockface trinket.
To add more mixed media texture, I sprinkled some Glass Beads and then dabbed some more of my favorite colours, this time opting for the Mint Acrylic Paint and Aquamarine Velvet Paste.

And this is the finished product!

I am also playing along with Mixed Media Warriors Creative Challenge #25:

Here are close-ups of my tag:

I chose to use the word TRUE that I found on a epoxy sticker in my stash.
I combined it with a wooden 'love' as well as a wooden butterfly.

I added some rose design on the base of my tag using the Rose stencil from Dusty Attic.
I then colored my tag with distress stain, a couple Daily ART spray inks.

I misted all my decorations with white and sprinkled some pink microbeads.

REMEMBER THIS Layout
(Dusty Attic DT - February Mood Board Challenge)

I am back today to share with you my 2nd Dusty Attic project this month,
this time inspired by the fabulous February mood board challenge!

Here's a look at this grungy and rustic mood board,
and tell me that you don't absolutely love it! I know I do!

I was obviously inspired by the denim and wood-inspired colour palette and textures
as well as all the masculine and mechanical yet country feel of the images.

I used a mixture of distress stain and Dusty In Colour paints on my chipboard,
most notably the Denim, Capri and Crushed Olive hues.
On the Peacock Feathers, I dabbed the paint on gradually to create an ombre effect.

I added some Rusting Powder on the Rustic Charm Frame Set after coloring it
with several shades of brown stains and paints.

These Page Pebbles from the boy #10 set were perfect for my layout.

I used a Mini Tab and some Decorative Dots around this adorable photo.

There you go!  I hope that you enjoy and you are inspired to play along!

YOU STOLE MY HEART Layout
(Dusty Attic DT)

This is my first Dusty Attic project for February, of course,
inspired by love, being that Valentine's Day is just around the corner.
Love is by far my favorite scrapbooking theme.

On a background of beautiful Prima paper, I added fuschia Daily ART mist
and then dabbed on some Dusty in Colour Dusty Pink acrylic paint.
I then added designs from 2 types of DA stencils with paint and molding paste,
that is, Creative Script and Criss-Cross which I both love.

I chose the title You Stole My Heart as my title.
This chipboard along with pieces of the Diamond Panel I have
colored with dark pink distress stain, then dabbed with Dusty Pink paint,
added some white and then dabbed again with distress stain.

I love this piece below called Heart Swirly. I was looking forward
to using it on a project, and was saving it for this month!
I colored it with different shades of brown and burgundy stains,
then added some Dusty Pink paint and copper patina.

I absolutely love the Dusty Attic Page Pebbles. The Set #2 is all about love and couples.

I love the layering effect that I was able to create framing my picture,
by using patterned paper, doilies and the Diamond Panel.

It wouldn't be a Valentine's layout without its very own cupid!
I very simply dabbed it with white paint.

This is one of many selfies of my boyfriend and I,
taken over the course of our almost 12 years together.
I am beyond blessed to love him and to be loved by him!

TRUE LOVE Mixed Media Canvas
(Daily ART DT
+ Mixed Media Monthly Challenge)

It is time for me to share with you
another Daily ART DT project, this time, a love-inspired project,
perfect for the month of February. I got my hands dirty with
lots of pinks and purples to create this very dreamy Valentine canvas!

I was inspired by the February Challenge #45

The canvas is 12 x 3 inches.

I added a thin coat of White Gesso to the base, followed by
a bit of Fine Texture Paste. Then, using Silver Stencil Paste,
I added some stenciled design with the Vintage N Stencil.

I then added, very randomly until I got the desired look,
a combination of Glimmer Ink Spray (Pearl Red), Vintage Ink Sprays (Baby Pink,
Pale Fuschia and Glossy Ink Spray (Light Violet, Bubblegum Pink, Snow White)
mixed in with water to create a watercolor effect and my good old heat gun
to dry it all up between layers. I then added a little stamping with black archival ink.

My Hardboard Hearts were covered with a thick coat of Crackle Paint
followed by Vintage Paint (Pastel Violet, Violet) and Velvet Paste (Amethyst).

I dabbed some Silver Stencil Paste on the complete canvas and decorations
to give it a little shimmer.  I then sprayed some liquid adhesive before
sprinkling on lots of micro-beads and sequins.

I am quite thrilled by how it all turned out
and I hope you enjoy it too.
Love and hearts are always a winning combination for any project!

I HOPE YOUR HEART IS FOREVER HAPPY Layout
(More Than Words DT - February Main Challenge)

It's the 1st day of the month so you know what that means...
I share with you my take on a brand new More Than Words challenge.

Here is the February Main Challenge over at More Than Words
from which my page was inspired.

Word Inspiration - FOREVER
Creative Challenge - HEART

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

At first, when seeing this challenge, I was inspired to do a romantic layout,
quite obviously. But then I thought why not give it a different spin.
I therefore used this darling photo of my niece and used the word FOREVER
in my title. I love this girl so much and I do wish her nothing but happiness
for her entire life. For the creative challenge, not only have I used that word
in my title also, but most importantly I added lots of HEARTS
throughout my page, of all colours and shapes.

I wanted to make my page bright and beautiful just like my niece.
I therefore picked this fun adorable collection, Chasing Dreams, from Crate Paper.
It was designed by Maggie Holmes, and I love everything she does!

I added lots of old school paper flowers with brads, gems and lots of
chipboard die cuts from the same collection.

I dabbed lots of paint and sprayed some shimmery gold mist.

Look at that pretty face!
How can you not wish her a forever happy heart!?

Here's to hoping that you will play along with us at More Than Words!

Until next time!
