September 1st already, so that means that Summer is practically over!
But the start of the month also means a brand new Main Challenge
from More Than Words, so that is reason enough to be happy!
Word Inspiration - ORIGINS
Creative Challenge - YOUR COUNTRY COLOURS
You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.
I am not the most patriotic person, but I do love the history of my ORIGINS, which is l'Acadie, a region of the Canadian Maritimes with French roots, language and culture. We celebrate Acadian Day on August 15th during which we have a traditional 'tintamarre' to demonstrate the vitality and solidarity of a people who survived persecution and deportation.
On that day, we also proudly display our flag COLOURS of blue, white and red, based on the France flag, with a symbolic yellow star to represent Acadie.
I decided to display the Acadian flag with 3 tags behind my photos.
I added some grungy chipboard from The Dusty Attic to match the colour sequence.
Since one of the traditions for Acadian Day is to decorate with the Acadian colour, I decided to also decorate my page with a little festive banner adorned in the colour flags with the star.
The yellow star pops out against the background and the black and white photo with just a touch of colour, which is the effect I wanted to achieve.
I am quite proud of my Acadian heritage just as I am proud of this layout.
Thank you for visiting!
