This month for my More Than Words main challenge DT reveal,
I decided to create a mixed media canvas as I had not done one in a while.
Word Inspiration - DISCOVER
Creative Challenge - OLD STASH
You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.
The word DISCOVER made me think of this quote 'By discovering nature,
you discover yourself.' So I went into my stash to find some nature
elements to create clusters of blooms and butterflies.
For the creative challenge I picked some metal flowers from Prima
as well as other metal decorations that I had in my collection of
OLD STASH for years, being afraid to actually use them.
I recently bought 24 beautiful colours of Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Oxide Sprays,
so I chose to play with the greens, teals, blues and yellow to create this canvas.
As you can see, I added layers upon layers of stash, metal, paper flowers,
sequins, art stones and paper butterflies. I used so much adhesive spray
that I nearly passed out from the fumes. But it was all worth it in the end.
This metal spoon decoration is also an old item from my stash.
I love the way it looks on my canvas, sprinkled with loads of sequins and stars.
The colours turned out beautifully... the distress oxide spray perfectly coated the metal.
I am so very happy with how this project turned out.
And I hope that you are too!
Hopefully I've inspired you to play along with the July MTW challenge!
