SHINE BRIGHT tag
(More Than Words DT - September Mini Challenge)

It's Mini Challenge time over on the More Than Words blog,
and this month I have created a tag, featuring the September mini word!

Take a look at the September Mini Challenge board:
Click HERE to find out all you need to know about the Mini Challenge
and to see gorgeous inspiration from the More Than Words DT.
Remember that in order to participate, you have to share your project
on the More Than Words FB page right HERE by the end of the month.

When I saw the word BRIGHT, I immediately thought of diamonds.
I used diamond chipboard stickers and added the title Shine Bright.

I started off on a black cardstock tag on which I added layer upon layer of white paint followed by different shades of pink and purple distress stains.

On the white foam Thickers, I sprinkled some gold embossing powder
and made sure to add some shine to my tag by misting some Dazzling Diamonds
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and decorated with gold and clear gems.

Is my tag BRIGHT enough for you?

Until next time!

THE PEACEFUL HEART layout
(Dusty Attic DT - September Mood Board)

Hello everyone!
I hope you are having a wonderful month of September so far!

I'm sharing with you today this layout inspired by
the gorgeous September mood board here at The Dusty Attic.

Here is this mood board that I absolutely adore and know that you must too!
The colour palette is absolutely stunning and the images so warm and inviting.

While looking through my photos, I found this picture of an old abandoned log cabin in the woods that we came across while roaming the forest during a camping trip. The cabin is very worn down, the roof covered in green moss and the yard completely taken over by nature. The whole scene looked magically beautiful. I thought it would be a perfect photo for this challenge and I found just as perfect a title for it in my Dusty Attic chipboard stash. I created an ombre effect on it with different shades of green embossing powders.

As you can see, I used many forest and nature themed chipboard for this page, including some Ferns and Foliage #8 as well as a few pieces from the more recent Driftwood #1 and Wood Slices sets. The Water Pump and the Chain Rectangle were colored with a combination of gold, silver and copper metallic markers.

I embossed some Mini Dragonflies with sparkly dark brown and popped them up against my background. The Mini Tag and Word Play were both black originally and I dabbed them with some white paint only to color in the white marble spots with several shades of brown marker.

This photo dates back to 6 years ago and I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it.

Here is a closer look at all the Dusty Attic chipboard used on this page.

BEST EVER layout
(Sketchabilities DT - Sketch #153)

It's sketchy time with the best sketch challenge blog out there.
And of course, I mean Sketchabilities!

Here is Sketch #153 that inspired my layout above! Click HERE for all the details on this challenge.

When I saw this sketch, I thought fun, pretty and girly!
So I went in search of a photo that would fit that description and found
this old photo of my niece Ella when she was just a toddler.

Starting with a beige and brown background, I wanted to add some bright pink,
blue and green and make them pop. Let's take a look at some details.

I used a lot of scraps from my paper supplies to create this layout.
It just goes to show that papers not from the same collection can still go well together.

What a perfect photo, and I am happy I was able to showcase it using this sketch!

Hopefully you will play along with us at Sketchabilities!

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL layout
(Dusty Attic DT)

September here in Canada and most other countries in the Northern hemisphere means the infamous return to school (like it or not!) and, since The Dusty Attic has released earlier this year some fabulous school-themed chipboard sets, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to document my nieces' return just last week.

I chose the Too Cool For School title which I covered in black embossing powder.

Because these chipboard pieces are so lifelike, I wanted to try to make them as realistic looking as possible, and in order to do that I used a combination of embossing powders, metallic markers and a bit of paint on each piece.

I really love the look of all this chipboard!

Look at this clip... You would think it was real!
I just covered it with black paint and then used metallic silver marker on the metal part.

Needless to say, I'm a very proud aunt to have such awesome nieces!

Now let's take a closer look at all the Dusty Attic chippies used on my page.

ALWAYS RADIATE SUNSHINE layout
(More Than Words DT - September Main Challenge)

I have a bright, brilliant and bold layout to share with you today
that was inspired by the September Main Challenge at More Than Words!

It was inspired by the August Main Challenge from More Than Words!

Word Inspiration - SUNSHINE
Creative Challenge - YELLOW

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

SUNSHINE to me means happiness, energy, positivity. We all need it to survive and thrive and we should all want to spread a little bit of it around, in our life and in others'.

YELLOW is not my favorite colour to scrap in, but I really enjoyed this creative challenge as it took me out of my comfort zone. It also enabled me to use some lovely yellow flowers from my stash as well as this gorgeous photo taken in my mother-in-law's garden this Summer.

The patterned papers used on my page are from My Mind's Eye.
I really loved the yellow and white striped pattern as the background
and I wanted to combine it with black and white accents in order
for the yellow to pop out even more.

I sprinkled some yellow and white sequins on my page, wanting to create somewhat of a reflective sunny effect, almost as sparkles of sunshine. I also used some yellow mist here and there.

The chipboard used is from Dusty Attic. I used yellow embossing powder on the Lacey Frame, as seen below. It represents in a way the sun peaking out from behind the photo.

This layout really makes me happy!  I hope it has the same effect on you!
