Life Is Beautiful Canvas
(More Than Words DT - March Main Challenge)

It's a brand new month, so once again, it is time for a brand new DT reveal based on a brand new challenge at More Than Words, and this time my project features the newest kit from Scraps of Elegance called 'Watercolor Wishes'.

Here is the March Main Challenge at More Than Words:
Word Inspiration - BEAUTIFUL
Creative Challenge - BUTTERFLY

I have a feeling that this one will be a very popular challenge!  You can find out
more information about the challenge right HERE on the MTW blog.

I decided to do a mixed media canvas for this reveal using mainly the SOE kit contents.

The word BEAUTIFUL made me think of my favorite movie, the Italian romantic drama, Life Is Beautiful, and so I have used the title of the movie as the title of my project. The chipboard used for my title are not included in the SOE kit, but from my own stash.

I have added one single chipboard butterfly, which I embossed with lilac embossing powder, amid clusters of flowers, embellishments and microbeads.

I've primed the base of my canvas with white gesso, and used the kit's KaiserCraft cherry blossom stencil with molding paste to create an embossed design.  I then went a little crazy with several different mists and sprinkled some Lindy's Magicals Shaker, also included in the kit.

I fussy cut some of the flowers on the gorgeous 49 and Market Heirloom Botanical papers featured in the kit and filled one of the tiny Solid Oak Steampunk Glass Florence Flasks with gold microbeads, also painting its cork gold, and nested it amid the flowers. The beautiful vintage clock faces are from Prima.  I painted the silver one gold to match the other.

If you are like me when in the past I admired other designers' mixed media work, and you are wondering how I glue on tiny mediums as as microbeads and art stones... well, it's easy.  I just use spray can glue that is especially made for crafts, for example, Elmers Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  It dries clear and does not affect the colors or texture of the papers and embellishments which is awesome.  Make sure to test it on a scrap piece of paper before using it on an actual project.

I hope that you will play along with us at More Than Words!

Here are once again pictures of the Scraps of Elegance 'Watercolor Wishes' and the add-ons that I was provided.  For more information on the Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance kits, click HERE.
