CSI GDT & SATW August Challenge

Yes, once again, i've been having my cake and eating it too!

I managed to combine 2 wonderful challenges to create a very shabby chic layout!

First, as a guest detective for CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration sponsored this month by 2Crafty Chipboard, i was asked to play along with Case File no. 86 which is as chic as chic can be with a lovely soft color scheme and a fun sassy scene.

As soon as i saw the Scrap Around the World August Mood Board, i thought that both different source of inspiration complemented each other perfectly.

I solved Case File no. 86 by using a combination of My Mind's Eye papers that matched the scheme.  The Evidence consists of striped scallopped borders, art mediums such as molding paste, mists and gesso and twine tied on little tags.  I handwrote my testimony which is unzipped for the whole world to see. :P

The same beautiful light yellow, white, pink and orange are reflected in the SATW Mood Board.  The sketch with all its circles and white space allowed me to feature some of the beautiful 2Crafty chipboard elements.  I was inspired by images of flowers, rhinestones, confetti, silver, leaves as well as the misting on the sketch.

At the risk of sounding too vain, i am totally in love with my layout and feel truly grateful for the inspiration from both CSI and SATW!

Let's take a look at some details:

You see here the Loopy Font "today" title from 2Crafty along with the middle of a Circle Flower whose petals i cut and used throughout the page almost as confetti. The paler circle behind the title is also from 2Crafty - it's the leftover inside part of another piece which i embossed.

Different flowers ranging from Maya Road to Prima to KaiserCraft.  I won the beautiful silver leaves in a prize recently hosted by Artsy Lynn and thought they would look great tucked behind the pastel blooms.

Here, you see part of Madeline's Flourish Frame. All pieces of chipboard were coated with white acrylic paint then sprayed with glimmer mist and dabbed with gesso and gold liquid pearls.

Another lovely flourish swirl, Flourish Adornment Set 4.

Now you're probably wondering how i created this lovely design on my background.  I used a plastic doily, also won from Artsy Lynn, as a mask, coating it with some molding paste, then misting the doily paste pattern with different mists.

The pieces of mesh you can see throughout the page were cut out of a wide silver Christmas ribbon.

I was holding on to this zipper for quite a while, not really knowing what to do with it.  Since it matched the colour scheme, i thought it would be nice to try to incorporate it in my layout.

And here's one last look!

Hopefully you will decide to solve CSI Case File no. 86.  You can find more information HERE.

I also urge you to check out the beautiful challenges at Scrap Around The World.

If you're like me, you can never get enough scrapbook challenges!
