Case File #84 (CSI GDT sponsored by 2Crafty)

I am so happy to be guest designing this month at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.

The CSI challenge NING offers such a neat concept in each of their weekly challenges based on a color scheme and an inspiration image, with an crime scene investigation theme.... the crime of creativity that is! :)

Because 2Crafty Chipboard is their main sponsor this month, us 2Crafty DT girls have been asked to join in on the fun as Guest Detectives.

Take a look at Case File #84!

If you're new to the CSI challenges, they all may seem complicated to you, but they really aren't.  Each case file contains a colour palette based on an image called "The Scene" which you must follow (as well as a sketch on the 2nd week of the month).  Next, there is the "Evidence" column from which  you must pick a minimum of 2 items to embellish your page.  The 3rd column named "Testimony" is the journaling criteria which is meant to help inspire your layout and journal process.  You only need to pick a minimum of 1 of these.
Here is how i solved my very first CSI case!

As you can see, i observed the scene of the crime very carefully and gathered as much evidence as i could: anchor, stripes, fabric, twine, circles, watch parts (cogs and gears).  My testimony revolved around the word "authentic".  Yves is by far the most authentic person i am blessed to know... and love.

Let's take a close look at all the awesome 2Crafty chipboard i used to solve the case.
First, there is the "The Measure of a Man" title which i've simply covered with distress stain.  You can also see the Cog Border which i've decided to leave its natural colour to compliment the beach grass shade in the colour scheme.

Below, you can see that i used the Scrabble Tiles alphabet to spell out Yves' name.

One of the larger Cog Nested Frames that i painted green and dabbed with off-white.

Here are a close-up of the Assorted Arrows

And now some gears...

and another piece of the cog border.

I just wanted to put more emphasis on the textiles that i used on my layout... most notably, the burlap background and the pieces of black twine.  Aside from being inspired by the CSI case file, i was also inspired by the Berry71bleu August challenge to create this layout.  The challenge was to get creative with textiles!

Burlap just happens to be my #1 fabric to use on my crafty projects!

So what do you think?

Guilty or not guilty?!

I will be solving another CSI Case File on August 23rd so make sure to come back then!
