Having not been able to play along with Once Upon A Sketch challenges the last few months, I absolutely wanted to take the time to do so this month when i saw the July challenge.
Along with the "Grow" journaling theme, i had to use this fabulous sketch as inspiration...
I took a lot of risks when creating this layout. Every step of the way, i had no idea how it would turn out, using layers after layers of gesso, molding paste, inks and paints.
The choice of the title and journaling was never a question for me :) I know that Yves is my soulmate and i'm looking forward to growing old and grey alongside him. Hopefully we will be blessed with very long lives both of us.
The picture frame opens up vertically and there i have hidden my journaling.
To achieve the look of my layout, i first laid out all my chipboard, metal charms, flowers, bling, title. I then did a little bit of masking here and there using molding paste and a stencil. After the paste was dry, i covered the entire layout with white gesso, and i mean EVERYTHING.
Then, that's when it became quite messy! I added 3 shades of Glimmer Mist, then dabbed on some ivory acrylic paint, then some black acrylic paint, then finished it off with some Liquid Pearls. I should have taken a picture of my fingers :P
It's a bit hard to believe that all the elements, including the background paper, were different colors at the beginning.
Hope you enjoy my little attempt at mixed media on a layout! Next time, i will try a canvas.
Check out the July challenge at Once Upon A Sketch. They always have the best inspiration from their DT and some fabulous prizes to be won!
