My Creative Scrapbook DT Reveal Part 2

Yesterday was single-page time with My Creative Scrapbook November Main kit.

Today get ready to see double!

A very fun page of my brother and his little family enjoying
a marvelous time at Walt Disney World earlier this year.

This double page allowed me to add lots of the ephemera pieces included in the Main kit.

Again, another page featuring my nieces with their cousin and a friend having fun shopping!

I especially like how this double-page spread turned out...
the colours, the vertical flags and all those die cut flowers!

I did a lot of stitching on the plaid grey paper.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing with you some extra projects created with this kit.

My Creative Scrapbook November DT Reveal

It's the 5th so time for another awesome reveal from My Creative Scrapbook Kit Club!

Here are the kits that MCS has to offer this month!

Main kit

Creative Kit

Limited Edition Kit

Album Kit

It doesn't get any better than that!

To learn more about these kits, click HERE!

There were so many ephemera pieces in the Main kit that I got very creative...
I kept going and going, just like the Energizer bunny! hehe

I created 3 single page layouts, 2 double-pages, 2 cards and 3 tags.

Here are my 3 single-page layouts created with the Main kit:

Love the monochromatic feel of this one with the gold and black accent.

I added some gold glitter paint to my background to give my page a bit of a sparkle.

With this layout, I wanted to go soft and romantic.

I love book pattern papers.  In all new collections I see, they are the first papers I am drawn to.
This one, from the Crate Paper Open Book collection is especially pretty.

Again, lots of gold and black accents on this layout.

Another soft layout, this time, featuring 2 beautiful pictures of my nieces.

Come back tomorrow for some double page inspiration.

Nature's Beauty (WW1 DT November Reveal - Freesia)

This month's colour challenge at White... with 1 is fabulous
and I'm very excited to be sharing my DT take on it today.

Freesia yellow!  So bright and beautiful.

This month, the DT girls had the chance to play with some pretty flair buttons
from the WW1 partner for November, Funky Flairs Studio.

Prizes this month (for Australian-based participants) include:
1st prize: $20 voucher from Molossi
2nd prize: prize pack from Scrap Everything
3rd prize: $25 voucher from Scrapbook Fantasies

1 international participant will win a GDT spot with White... with 1.

Remember to check out the complete rules of all WW1 challenges HERE
(one of them is that your project needs to be created exclusively for WW1)
and link up layout before the end of the month for a chance to win.

Now, let's take a look at what this month's colour inspired me to create.

When I think of this distinct shade of yellow, I think of
Summer, sunshine, bumblebees and honey.

As you can see, I've followed one of the main rules of WW1 challenges
which is to make 85% of your layout white with the monthly colour.
Only the other 15% can include black for journaling or accenting.

In the above and below images,
you can see here the beautiful flair provided by Funky Flair
which went perfectly with this challenge.

Papers are from My Mind's Eye.

The picture was taken by my father in law who is an excellent photographer.

Can't wait to see what you will create with

White... with Freesia!

Oriental Dream (Mixed Media Canvas Set)

I'm sharing with you today a mini set of canvases created with a combination of my favorite products from 2Crafty Chipboard, Reneabouquets and Meg's Garden.

I was inspired by a brand new mixed media challenge blog based out of Sweden called
Words & Paintery (excellent name, isn't it?)
which I have a feeling will soon become one of my favorites since I love mixed media more and more,
plus the DT is full of talented ladies.

Here is their October challenge:

I tried to recreate the same beautiful colours on my mini canvas set, and in doing so,
used many paints, stains and mists.  My fingers were a nice shade of blue once I was finished,
and even stayed a tad bit blue over the next few days.  I got some weird looks at work. :P

I call this canvas set 'Oriental Dream' as it features the beautiful Geisha Girl chipboard piece
from 2Crafty as well as many other Asian-theme embellishments.

Each canvas measures 6 x 8 inches and were covered by a thick coat of white gesso to start.

I then added on the base of both canvases
2 different stenciled designs with molding paste to give them texture.
I then used different shades of distress stains, mists and paint with gold glitter.

I did some dry embossing on the Geisha chipboard and then covered it with gesso,
then coat after coat of all shades of blue stains I own.  I then added a bit of mist and followed with Luminarte Silk Acrylic Glazes.  I treated all chipboard pieces the same.
I finished with a few dabs of white paint and some gold glitter paint here and there.

All metal charms (both fans and the gold dragonfly) come from Meg's Garden Store.

The pretty paper dragonflies and the white roses are from Reneabouquets.

You can find them HERE in the Reneabouquets shop.
Remember that you can use coupon code 'GDTNicole' until the end of October
to get 10% off any order you make with Reneabouquets.

Another beautiful 2Crafty piece that I used is the Cherry Blossom which I decided to cut in 2
to make the design overflow from one canvas to the next.

The big Flower Clusters were a good match with the oriental theme.
I added a lot of gold glitter paint in the centers and went darker on the tips of each leaf.

I chose Always follow your Dreams as my title
because one of my dreams is to one day be able to visit an Asian country, mostly Japan or Thailand.
To me, it seems like such a fascinating culture and a gorgeous place to visit.

A closer look at the flowers I picked to complement my array of chipboard and charms.

And one last look at both canvases.

Thank you to Words & Paintery for the inspiration
and long prosperous life to this new challenge blog!

I know I will play along often!
