YOU WARM UP MY HEART Tag
(More Than Words DT - March Mini Challenge)

It's Mini Challenge time over on the More Than Words blog,
and I created this tag especially for it, using the March mini word!

Take a look at the March Mini Challenge board:

Click HERE to find out all you need to know about the Mini Challenge
and to see gorgeous inspiration from the More Than Words DT.
Remember that in order to participate, you have to share your project
on the More Than Words FB page right HERE by the end of the month.

The word WARM made me think right away of a hot drink, and I had these cute Dollar Store stickers of coffee cups that i had bought a while back so it seemed perfect
to use one of them on my project to go along with the word and sentiment.

Using the Dusty Attic Glass Stains stencil with dark brown ink, I decided to create some coffee stains on my kraft colored tag. I then sprayed it with different mists,
then added different size art stones.

I absolutely love the coffee cup on which I added a mini chipboard heart colored red.

Be sure to check out the More Than Words blog right HERE
for more information on this Mini Challenge!

Until next time!

LIVE LAUGH LOVE Mixed Media Shadow Box
(Daily ART DT + Mixed Media Warriors #26)

This is my 2nd DT reveal this  month for Daily ART
and this time around I created a mixed media project all inspired by Spring.

I am SO thankful that Spring is almost here (well actually it is supposed to be already), although we have so much snow left here in Eastern Canada (and expecting more) that it might not literally be felt here until July. :-/

I was also inspired by Challenge #26 at Mixed Media Warriors.
I followed the colour palette and incorporated lots of flowers as in the images
and of course was inspired by the 'hello Spring' sentiment.

I started with a wooden shadow box as my base which I primed with a thin coat of White Gesso. I then added a flower design on the inside using a stencil and a mixture of Aquamarine Velvet Paste and Sky Blue Glitter Paste. On the frame, I used a tiny dot stencil with Fine Texture Paste.

I then used Glossy Ink Spray in Rich Blue and Snow White as well as Vintage Ink Spray in Medium Blue and Baby Blue to create a marbled blue background. On the title I created an ombre effect using the Harmony Pink Vintage Paint and Carmine Acrylic Paint.

I painted the chipboard bird house and fence, both from Dusty Attic, in Chocolate Acrylic and Sepia Vintage followed by a bit of Crackle Paint. I made the grass with cheesecloth that I sprayed with Pale Green Vintage Ink Spray and Olive Glossy Ink Spray.

The Hardboard Small Shapes Flowers are so very pretty. I used a combination of Yellow/Beige, Carmine/Ruby (Patina) and Carmine/Harmony Pink on each color set.

And of course, no mixed media project would be complete without lots of beads and art stones.

I wanted my shadow box to be fun and bright and reminiscent of Spring, a season that makes me want to 'live, laugh, love', and I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it too!

CAPTURE THIS MOMENT Layout
(Dusty Attic DT - March Mood Board)

I created this layout inspired by by the gorgeous March mood board challenge
on the Dusty Attic blog and of course it features lots of fabulous DA chippies!

Here's a look at the March mood board:

Seeing all these beautiful flower images on the board, I absolutely
wanted to capture the same elegant feel and delicate colour palette.

On my base of gorgeous Lemoncraft papers, I used the Chicken Wire stencil with just black archive ink. I chose the title Capture This Moment which I covered with blue embossing powder and then dabbed with Oceania Dusty in Colour paint as well as some white.
The 'This' part was painted with the Dusty Pink shade.

This piece below is called Leafy Flourish #2 and is part of so many beautiful flourishes offered by Dusty Attic. There are some for every taste! I used snow white embossing powder on it
and then dabbed with Oceania and Dusty Pink.

In my flower clusters, I added several blooms of the Succulents Mixed set, some of which I also covered in white embossing powder and others with fuschia, dabbed with some white.
I absolutely love these flowery designs!

The Doily #2 is an older piece from Dusty Attic but still a favorite of mine. I have plenty in my stash as I remember I loved it so much at the time that I bought it in not doubles, but quadruples! I created a marble effect on it with white embossing powder and the blue and pink shades of Dusty in Colour. The pretty butterfly is from the Flutterbies #1 set. I just simply cut off its wings on one side as I wanted it to use it as it posed lightly on the Ticket.

I had the perfect picture for this project... my friends' adorable little girls,
one dressed in pink and the other in blue. Perfect, indeed!

I hope you like and that I have inspired you to play along to this month's challenge!
Please do share your project with us on the Dusty FANattics FB page.

THESE ARE TREASURED MEMORIES Layout
(Dusty Attic DT)

It's my turn once again to be featured on the Dusty Attic blog
and this time I have this very sweet and girly page to share with you!

I had printed this old photo of me (yes, that cute little girl is me at 5 years old!) a while back and was waiting for the right inspiration to use it on a page. I was feeling in quite the girly mood and, the photo being in sepia tones, I wasn't too sure where to go with colours to match the photo. Well, I finally opted for a brownish background but added lots of girly colours on top!

I used Daily ART Velvet Paste with the Criss Cross and Feathers and Arrows stencils on the background and I then misted some aqua paint.

I absolutely love the Boho Feathers. To colour them, I used a combination of the same pink and purple shade Velvet Pastes as on the background and dabbed a bit of Dusty in Colour Moutain Meadow.

I used Mountain Meadow to also cover the title and the String Frames.

I sprayed some adhesive on my page and then sprinkled a bit of the Dress My Craft Angel Mix Sequins. I adore adding sequins to my work... and d these mixes are full of different tiny shapes and colours. They add just the right amount of shine and I find they look perfect against the sepia base.

Do you like my page? Is it girly enough for you?
I would love to know what you think.

Here is the list of all Dusty Attic products used:

Dusty In Bloom
Dusty in Colour
Stencils
Sequins/Glitter

LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE Layout
(Daily ART DT
+ Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #46)

Hello! It's my turn today to share a project on the Daily ART blog
and I have created this mixed media layout using several mediums from
the long range of products available from Daily ART.

I am playing along with the March Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #46
which is to use at least one stencil and 3 different mediums.

I started off on a Blue Fern Studios background paper to create
this grungy earth-toned page mixed with a little steampunk.

I added some stenciled dots pattern to the base with Beryl Velvet Paste.
I also sprayed some Vintage Ink Spray in Sepia. The intricate leaf chippies
were painted with Beryl Velvet Paste as well.

I then spread some Sand Texture Paste in which I worked a bit of Bitumen which is a water-based medium used to create an aged look. By mixing it up with the paste, I wanted to create the illusion of black mossy dirt to go with the natural theme of my layout.

On the large white chipboard word, I dabbed a combination of Beryl Velvet Paste,
Sand Vintage Paint and Bronze Glimmer Ink Spray, dabbing the excess off to keep it light
and visible against the dark brown and kraft backdrop.

I added the finishing touches to my layout by misting some Snow White Glossy Ink Spray
and dabbing white paint on all my embellishments.

I am thrilled by how this layout turned out, and I hope that you like it!

CLEAN COMFY SHEETS Layout
(More Than Words DT - March Main Challenge)

Who's ready for a brand new More Than Words challenge?

Here is the March Main Challenge over at More Than Words
from which my page was inspired.
Word Inspiration - COMFORTABLE
Creative Challenge - COLOUR COMBO

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

Sugar the cat has the habit of getting COMFORTABLE in most inappropriate places,
like a basket of freshly washed bed sheets that we were too lazy to fold and store right away.
She looks so cozy and cute that we let her be, knowing that the sheets would
just have to be washed again.

I really loved the COLOUR COMBO... so warm and inviting. I do believe
that I've managed to incorporate all the 5 colours unto my page.

I did struggle a bit with this challenge, but finally am happy with the result.

I added all of the colours from the combo with mists, paints, stenciling and stamping
to create a mixed media type background. Every time I dabble with mixed media,
I am always so out of my comfort zone and totally lacking of self-confidence.

I need to learn how to trust that it will turn out fine.
No matter how I think I  may be messing it all up,
I usually work at it until I make it work.

Aww... the true epitome of COMFORT... and cuteness!

Now what will you be inspired to create with the March word and creative challenge?

I cannot wait to see!
