Happy Bookworm (ScrapBerry's DT & Scrapki-wyzwaniowo May Challenge)

For my 1st ScrapBerry's DT reveal this month, I have created a layout 

with my absolutely favorite ScrapBerry's paper collection, 'Words Live Forever'.  

Take a look at these gorgeous papers:

 Just the name of this line in itself is so endearing to me as I've always loved 

writing and reading, so of course WORDS... enough that I pursued 

my post-secondary education with a major in English and a minor in French, 

specializing in classical literature. So needless to say, I've read my fair share of books!

When I saw the May challenge on the Scrapki-wyzwaniowo blog,

it was just the perfect inspiration that I needed to kickstart my project.

The challenge is to be inspired by books and the pages inside them.

I couldn't have asked for a better combination!

And now let's take a look at some close-ups of my layout.

I chose beautiful background paper lined with books with some fabulous 

book print paper peaking from underneath.  The book print flag, arrow

and heart are handmade embellishments from Charms Creations.

I thought that it would be cool to incorporate 6 of my all time favorite books

on my page somehow so I googled the covers and printed them on photo paper.  

For all you book lovers out there, I strongly suggest any of these!

Of course, I incorporated several ScrapBerry's embellishments on my page,

including lots of classic images from the Postcards For Pennies 

and Memos papers.  I also used brads from the Once Upon A Winter 

collection (yes Winter!!) and pretty paper and resin flowers.

And finally, look at this gorgeous image (free desktop wallpaper)

that I found on Google and absolutely knew I had to use!

And there you go!  A very 'WORDY' page paying homage to my love of books.

10 Years Soulmates (7 Dots Studio, Lindy's Stamp Gang & Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo Challenges)

I took some me time this weekend and decided to create just for me!  In all my DT requirements and deadlines, it's sometimes hard to be able to scrapbook just for the sheer joy of it.  Whenever I can, I try to play along with amazing challenges that have caught my eye.  Well, this time around, I was able to combine 3, each one as fabulous as the next!  INSPIRATION GALORE!!

A couple months ago, I saw this gorgeous new collection from 7 Dots Studio called Cotton Candy Dream and it was love at first sight.  So I ordered it and hadn't had the chance to play with it until now.  The February 7 Dots Studio challenge was an easy one for me as 'LOVE' just happens to be my favorite scrapbooking theme.  I can never get enough of showcasing the love that Yves and I share! Other 7 Dots Studio products used include several stamps and chipboard.

Next on my list of inspirational challenges is the Lindy's Stamp Gang March Color Challenge. It is my first time playing along as my Lindy's stash collection is still growing.  To be frank, I only own 12 Lindy's sprays so far, but I love them so much that I plan on getting more! I just happened to have 4 that matched this pretty palette: Starbursts Wild Honeysuckle Coral, Starbursts Cape Cod Coral, Flat Fabios Kissin' Kenickie Coral and Flat Fabios T-bird Turquoise. I realize that my layout tends to be more on the orange side, but I did spray on all of my coral hues to try to tone it down a little,

and you can clearly see some bits of beautiful turquoise here and there! 

And last, but certainly not least, I decided to have a go at the Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo March challenge which was to use NUMBERS on a project.  Because of my love-theme, I opted to add a large 10 to document 10 years of being soulmates.  I also used a number stamp here and there on the background.

I am sure that you will agree that these 3 challenges proved to be the perfect inspiration combo!

Now let's take a closer look at my page:

I used some of the largest alphas in my stash to create the number 10.  I have a little confession to make... it is actually an 'i' and 'o', but who would have ever thought, uh?  They were also originally a bright shade of pink so I painted them brown and added some microbeads on them with dabs of white paint.

I mixed matched different turquoise, teal and peachy orange flowers to create my cluster, sprinkled with more microbeads!

You can see here stamped numbers on my background as well as numbers on a 7 Dots Studio die cut shape.

I was very pleased with the soft round splatters created with my Lindy's sprays.

10 years ago, my soul found its mate... and my happiness knows no bounds!

Joy To All (SOE "Christmas Cheer" kit & Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo Challenge)

I haven't posted in a week, but I have a good excuse!  I have been pretty busy creating with the brand new Scraps of Elegance kit called "Christmas Cheer" and am now ready to share with you a few of my projects, starting with this very 'magical' Wintery layout.

The "Christmas Cheer" kit features the Vintage Christmas papers from Blue Fern Studio, a couple BFS chipboard sets and lots of beautiful flowers and metal accents.  When I received the kit, I immediately thought of the Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo December challenge's 'Magic' mood board. The image inspired me to use lots of metallic and sparkly colours on my chipboard to go along with the pretty gold and copper flowers available through the SOE Floral Add-On kit.

I went a bit crazy with the dabs of white paint over all my embellishments.

The kit comes with a set of 3 of these intricate Christmas baubles from BFS.

I didn't have a picture in my own collection to give this creative idea in my head justice, so I borrowed one from the internet.  This gorgeous print called 'Christmas Evening' is from Thomas Kinkade which you can see HERE.

It doesn't get any more magical and Christmasy than this!

Wonder Big (Blue Fern Studios DT Reveal 2)

I am back today to reveal another DT project for Blue Fern Studios.

This one is as masculine as yesterday's was feminine.

I started off with some vintage Paisley & Vine papers to go along with this more masculine theme.

The title was taken from the Wish Wonder Dream set which I covered with Blue Sky embossing powder.  I added some Lightbulbs covered with Sand & Sea.

The lightbulbs were inspired by the fabulous November challenge at Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo!

Again, I divided a longer piece of chipboard into 2 pieces, this time a piece of the Printer's Bits to fit vertically above and below my photo. On this piece is the Ruby embossing powder which I dabbed with a little bit of brighter red acrylic paint.

Some more of the Printer's Bits layered over the Triangle Eclipse covered in Stellar Night and dabbed with brown paint. On the background paper, I stamped the netting design from the Essential Textures stamp set.

Yes, you've seen this little cutie before... he is  my friend's son, Tristan.

I am so happy to be off work for another week (YAY to Summer holidays!) and since I did not make any plans other than just staying home and taking it easy, I am spending most of my days in my scraproom doing what I love best!

Today I was able to create this layout inspired by 3 different challenges:

The first challenge that inspired me is the July-August challenge from 7 Dots Studio which is to share a favorite quote which is what I did.  The quote is from the famous Helen Keller.  What true words of wisdom from such a special lady!  She wasn't able to see nature with her eyes, but she no doubt felt the beauty and wonder of it with her heart!

The next challenge that I incorporated into my creation is the August "Summer Hideaway" challenge at Berry71bleu.  As you can see, I loved the mood board and used the colour palette on my page.  My "Summer Hideaway" is exploring and walking among nature... totally awe-inspiring every time!

The final challenge with which I am playing along today is the Scrapki-wyzwaniowo August challenge, all about meadow flowers.  I added a piece of the Tranquility Foliage chipboard from Blue Fern Studios and used a stunning wallpaper image with a wild flower on it (borrowed from here).

I absolutely adore these papers from 7 Dots Studio, from the Nature Walk and Cold Country collections, which were totally perfect for the whole theme of this page.  I was able to coordinate with several tags and die-cut shapes also from 7 Dots Studio in order to create my homage to nature on paper!  The chipboard word 'Inspiration' is from Blue Fern Studios.

I created many layers with tags, stickers, die-cuts, chipboard and flowers.

I added some dot and leafy flourish stamped designs using a 7 Dots Studio stamp set and sprinkled in some green microbeads.

Frolic In The Sun (Blue Fern Studios DT Reveal Part 1 / Words & Paintery and Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo challenges)

It's time to share with you my monthly DT reveal for Blue Fern Studios, and this month, in wait of the brand new BFS collection, Seaside Cottage (click HERE to see it - it is absolutely gorgeous!!), I decided to dig into my BFS paper stash and pick some of my all-time favorites... oldies but certainly still goodies!

Let's start today with this very sunny layout featuring the beautiful Frolic collection!

I am also entering my layout into a brand new challenge blog for me over at Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo and this month's challenge is all about sunshine! Click HERE for the details!

The colour palette and sunshine theme have such a happy inspiring feel that I tried to incorporate into my layout, starting with the title 'Frolic in the Sun' colored in an ombre effect over some stenciled yellow sunrays, all using different Imagine Ink embossing powders and glitter.

Below you see some of the pretty Attic Charm Daisies.  The yellow one was an Attic Charm Glitter Rose from which I removed the center and replaced with a royal blue brad to go with my palette.

I created the illusion of a sun to go along with my sunrays by using the smaller Looped Frame in the upper right corner of my design while using the larger one behind my photo. They were both covered with a combination of Buttercup and Honey embossing powders.

I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the patterned paper and popped them up throughout.

This sweet photo of little Jade 'frolicking in the sun', very proudly showing off her parasol, was the perfect photo for my page and the Words & Paintery challenge!
