HAPPINESS BLOOMS
- single page layout -
(Dusty Attic DT - August Mood Board)

Hello everyone!

I am back today this time to share my take on the August mood board
with a layout filled with newly released chipboard from The Dusty Attic.

Here is the lovely August mood board from The Dusty Attic.

I was inspired by the warm colour palette and image of nature to create a page dedicated to happy blooms from my mother-in-law's garden. I chose the title Happiness Blooms From Within which I framed with the new Mini Brackets.

I used the large frame from the Floral Frame Set #2 and added some pretty Blooms #5.

I covered it with green embossing powder and then after dabbing on some white paint, I added some dark green and dark brown distress stain to give more of a marbled effect and try to stay true to the palette. I did the same to the flowers, but in orange tones.

On the background paper, I used the Flower Burst stencil with white paint.

Definitely some must-haves from the new releases are the several Broken Bits sets which I absolutely adore. On this page, you can see that I used the Brick one which I slipped behind the photo. I colored it black to create a bold contrast against the softer background and the bright flower cluster.

The picture is gorgeous and was taken by my mother-in-law in her garden.

Here are the Dusty Attic products that I used on my layout.

SUMMER BEAUTY
- single page layout -
(Dusty Attic DT)

August is one of my favorite months in the whole year.
Here in Canada, it's the last full month of the Summer so it's especially important to try to enjoy it as much as we can as the rest of the year can get pretty dreary and super long.  So in my Summery state of mind, I was inspired to create a fun, bold and happy layout with lots of colours for my first monthly DT reveal on The Dusty Attic blog!

As you can see, I choose very bright papers from my very old Bo Bunny stash.
I then picked some fabulous chipboard from my Dusty Attic collection that I thought
would complement well the Summer feel and the kid style I wanted to express.

The first piece that caught my eye was the Mini Me set. I picked one of the cute little girls to represent the cutie in the photo, my friends' daughter. Because I wanted some of the chipboard to really stand out against all the background colours, I decided to cover it with white embossing  powder.  I created my title with a Mini Tag and a word from Word Pack #20. You can also see a glimpse of a newly released Polaroid Frame Set #1 poking out from the bottom of the picture.

Another new release from Dusty Attic is a line of very intricate Swirls. The one below comes from Set #1. I thought it went perfect with the design of this layout.

To mimic the geometric pattern on the background papers, I decided to add the Geometric Border and part of the Geometric Corners on both outer edge of my page.  They are absolutely fabulous. And I just love how cute the little Twine Bow looks on the tag! I colored it with a marker and gel pen.

Even my flowers are chipboard on my layout. I used Flower Layers #5 that I painted with Dusty in Colour Sunburnt Orange paint with a few dabs of the lighter Bisque.  Then finally, I added a few final touches of blue and purple with Decorative Dots and Page Pebbles.

I used a LOT of Dusty Attic chipboard on this project. Here is the complete list.

HAPPY GIRLS
- single page layout -
(More Than Words DT - August Main Challenge)

Oh no, Summer is going by way too fast! It's already August!

But the first of the month is always a happy time for me
as I get to reveal a brand new DT project for More Than Words!

Here is the August main challenge board from More Than Words.

Word Inspiration - HAPPINESS
Creative Challenge - SKETCH

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

I cannot but think of these 2 fabulous girls when I hear this month's word.
My nieces are definitely a great source of HAPPINESS in my life
ever since they came into it 12 and 14 years ago. They are smart, kind,
beautiful and absolutely know how to have fun!

I always enjoy a great SKETCH to get my creative
juices flowing and Edith's was no exception.

I really wanted to create a layout that would make me smile just looking at it!
And so, I used lots of bright colours, some wooden accents and a touch of gold.

I absolutely love my sparkly golden tag peaking from behind the pretty paper.
I also thought this fun charming flair would complement it well.

The fun title is from The Dusty Attic.  As much as I love DA chipboard, I also love wooden shapes!

My nieces were posing for this picture a few years back during a family trip.
They have grown up a bit since then, but are still just as spunky!

I cannot wait to see how you will interpret this month's word and sketch!
