WIDE OPEN SPACES
- single page layout -
(The Dusty Attic DT - October Mood Board)

I am back today to share with you my project inspired
by the October mood board challenge from The Dusty Attic.

Here is the beautiful October mood board:

I absolutely love the colour palette and the Autumn feel of this board.
It inspired me to create a layout of the countryside with lots of of same warm hues.

I started with picking out my pictures and found some gorgeous shots
of a sheep pasture and vast fields of green taken while on a ride through the country.
I chose the title Wide Open Spaces which seemed perfect.

I searched my Dusty Attic stash and took out several country and farm themed chipboard,
including the tall Windmill and a piece of the Large Paddock Fence as well as a Wagon Wheel.

I decided to treat all my chipboard with Ranger Distress Stains in different shades of brown.
I wanted to keep everything as earthy looking as possible.

I added a couple Mini Compasses colored in black.

I even kept some of the chippies bare to go along with the kraft color on my page.
Below you see a piece of the beautiful Wheat. I find it to be such an intricate piece!

I think I captured the essence of the mood board quite well.  What do you think?

Now let's see all the Dusty Attic chipboard that I used:

AMOUR UNE JOURNEE PARFAITE
- mixed media canvas -
(The Dusty Attic DT)

I recently went to the post-wedding celebration of 2 of my best friends, and I thought it would be special to create a canvas for them to remember this special day.

The canvas is 16 inches by 20 inches. I covered it with a coat of clear gesso,
and then used 2 different Dusty Attic stencils, Damask #2 and Large Dot, to add some texture and design to the base with modeling paste and several coats of inks, sprays and paints.

Since my friends are francophones, I used a saying from the French Wordplay, the Ensemble Amour set, as well as the word 'moments' from the Mini Tags #3 which has the same meaning in both languages.

Working with such a large surface, I thought it would be awesome to use several of the beautiful Fancy Frames. I added a few smaller frames from the Frame Medley.

I wanted to keep them all elegant and classy and part of the background, so I used white embossing powder and white acrylic paint on them.

In the above image you see two Ornate Pendants colored in black.

On the words I used paprika colored embossing powder to match the orange and royal blue colour palette, which you can guess were also the wedding colours. I decorated with some Baroque Flourishes and black Decorative Dots.

I went a bit crazy with the flowers!  I love how there is no limit when working with canvases... you can use some of the biggest and thickest flowers in your staff because there's no limit!

I always get very nervous when creating a project as a gift,
but I do love how this turned out, and my friends loved it as well.

Now, let's take a look at all the Dusty Attic chipboard and other products used.

LET'S GET SPOOKY
- single page layout -
(More Than Words DT - October Main Challenge)

Happy October everyone!!!

We have another fabulous main challenge reveal over
on the More Than Words blog (you will not want to miss this one!)
and here is my project based on this month's challenge.

Here is the October main challenge board from More Than Words.

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

Being the month of October I was inspired by the word to create a Halloween-themed layout. This was my niece's first Halloween back in 2005 when she was dressed up in the cutest witch COSTUME.

For this kid's page, I decided to use a fun BLACK BACKGROUND with polkadots and added lots of bright colours to contrast with the dark base.

All the fun Halloween chipboard is from The Dusty Attic.

I looked through my small Halloween-themed stash and found a few layered
stickers that I have had for years. They went perfectly with my page.

I kept the design fairly simple, decorating with buttons and sequins.

I hope that my 'spooky' layout didn't scare you too much,
and that you will come back to visit soon to see more of my creations!

Make sure to drop by at More Than Words to see all the DT projects
and the fabulous prize up for grabs this month!
