LIFE IS SWEET, TASTE IT RIGHT NOW - Single Page Layout
(Creative Scrappers DT - #306 Sketch Challenge)

It's my turn to showcase my take on sketch #306 on the Creative Scrappers blog!
It is a fairly bittersweet post as it is my last one as part of the CS DT.
My term is up and it's time to step down and give someone else the opportunity.

If you haven't played along with the CS May sketch challenge, you still have a couple weeks.
Click HERE for all the details and to see daily inspiration from all the fabulous DT.

Here is my take:

...and here is sketch #306:

I wanted to go bright and happy for this layout, in celebration of Spring
which is finally here, and which means that Summer is just around the corner!

Using a combination of ScrapBerry's Tropics and Mediterranean Dreams collections,
I was able to create a very fun 'citrus-y layout to go along with this picture of me
taken 12 years ago on an orange/grapefruit-picking excursion in Orlando, Florida.

I found that the rectangle shapes on the sketch allowed me to play
with different patterned papers and were perfect to do some handmade stitching.

Life is good & sweet, indeed!

A big THANK YOU goes to Kristine Davidson for having me on her team!
What a wonderful time I've had creating with her fabulous sketches
and alongside an amazing group of ladies!

Go Fly a Kite... They Said
(Creative Scrappers DT - Sketch #305)

It is reveal day for me at the Creative Scrappers blog and I have a fun
and bright page to share with you based on the April sketch challenge!

This is the fabulous Sketch #305 from Creative Scrappers:

Creative Scrappers' wonderful sponsor this month is The Cut Shoppe
and owner Ashley Horton was so kind as to donate a few cut
files to each DT member.  I chose the fun Go Fly a Kite set
as I had just the pictures to scrap with it!

I decided to have a little fun with the whole theme and title of my page.
Since the kite flying adventure turned out to be a fail,
I decided to still snap pictures of it and fly the kite of imagination instead. :)

I added some stitching to the kite cutouts and got a little messy with sprays and paints.

I am still learning how to use my Silhouette so some of the images
didn't cut as they should have, but I still think they turned out nice.

I decorated my page with several buttons and brads... and more handmade stitching.

And there you go!  I hope you enjoy and that you will take time
to play along with the April sketch challenge at Creative Scrappers.

Butterfly Adventure
(Creative Scrappers DT - Sketch #304)

It is my turn to showcase a project based on Sketch #304 over on the Creative Scrappers blog!

Here is the March sketch, designed by none other than the fabulous Kristine Davidson.
You can find out more details on this specific challenge right HERE.

Sketch #304 has proven to be a tad bit challenging for some of us designers, but that is all part of the fun of working with sketches!  Every element is versatile and can be altered to fit your design style and product and theme choices.

Instead of using the same square shape and size of different pattern papers, I opted to overlay different sizes, from big to small, diagonally (just as the sketch) across my background.

I opted for a large butterfly cut out of the pretty Bo Bunny 'Sweet Life' papers in place of the stars and decided to use only 2 pictures instead of 3.

I love the combination of bright colours on this layout.  As much as I love elegant and romantic pieces, I also adore creating in a more bold and fun style like this one.

I fussy cut and punched a few smaller butterflies and added even more colour using enamel dots and splatters of paint.

I hope I have inspired you to take part in the challenge and share with us your take on Creative Scrappers' Sketch #304!

Little Moments
(Creative Scrappers Sketch 303)

Continuing on with the obvious love theme this month, I am back on this very special day to share with you my take on Sketch 303 from Creative Scrappers!

This is Sketch 303!  You can learn more about this challenge right HERE and visit the Creative Scrappers blog throughout the month for constant inspiration based on this sketch.

Since I knew my DT reveal was falling on Valentine's Day, I knew that I had to make my layout as 'Valentin-y' as possible so I added lots of hearts, some pinks and reds and a picture of my boyfriend and I getting cozy during a special romantic night out.

The papers are from My Mind's Eye.

I did some misting on the background and on my embellishments and added a bit of handmade border stitching... with a couple hearts peaking through.

Every little moment that we spent together make for splendid memories to document and scrap.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

Snow Much Sparkle
(Creative Scrappers #302)

The January sketch challenge for Creative Scrappers has been revealed at the start of the month right HERE and today is my turn to showcase my layout inspired by sketch #302.

Let's take a look at sketch #302... another fabulous sketch from Kristine Davidson!

As much as I do not enjoy Winter, I absolutely love creating Winter-themed layouts.  Snowflakes, sparkle, white frosty tips... I love it all!

In the image above, you can see my title that was created on layers of different tags.  Below, you see that I decided to overlay my distressed triangle shapes on my background and stitched them up just like patchwork.

I replaced the 3 pictures (which I didn't have) by rectangles of paper, thus adding colour and different patterns to my page.  I made the white swirls myself by just drawing them out on white cardstock and cutting them out, then popping them up on my page with 3D foam squares.

For someone who doesn't enjoy Winter, I sure looked happy on this picture! ha! I am always happy in good company, no matter the season!

Here's to hoping that you will play along with us this month, if not already done.

Hello Wonderful
(Creative Scrappers DT Reveal Sketch #300)

This is an exciting reveal for me as it is my first (in a few years) DT reveal for Creative Scrappers!  I am so happy to be part of this wonderful team again and to be able to promote Kristine's fabulous sketches.

Here is sketch #300 that inspired my above design.
Click HERE to find out all about this challenge and to see all DT inspiration!
You will not be disappointed - I'm creating along some amazingly talented ladies!

I saw this sketch and I thought fun, colourful and bright!

So I searched through my stash and found this quite ancient collection from BoBunny and I figured it's now or never.  I had a bunch of these papers from the Kitchen Spice collection and was inspired to take out my scissors and start fussy cutting flowers.  I used the striped paper to cut out the grid background piece with my Silhouette machine.  The grid cut file was designed by Kristine Davidson and is available right HERE!

I thought a little gold would look nice amid all those earthy tones.

And of course, the focal point of my layout is this lovely picture of Jade's adorable smile!

Creative Scrappers is releasing a brand new sketch book, VOLUME 4, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.  It is up for preorder. You can click HERE for all the details1

I hope that I have inspired you to create today and that you will play along with us at Creative Scrappers!

Happy Girl
(Creative Scrappers Sketch Challenge #298)

I was very happy today to get reacquainted with a most wonderful sketch challenge blog on which DT I was lucky enough to be on in the past and with whose sketches I have always enjoyed working!

This is my layout inspired by their latest sketch:

Creative Scrappers is owned and run by Kristine Davidson who also designs all the sketches, including this lovely one for the September challenge.  Click HERE for all the details on challenge #298!

I am sure that you will agree that this sketch is very unique.  It right away sparked many creative ideas in my mind so that I had a bit of a difficult time sorting them all out and actually deciding on a theme and color/product scheme for this page.  I finally opted for some BoBunny Penny Emporium to match a picture of my niece Daphne in her kindergarten year.

I accented the page with bare wooden shapes which I thought matched the papers very nicely and some chalkboard stickers and diecuts from My Mind's Eye and 7Dots Studio.

I used my Silhouette to cut the circle shape as well as the title.

What a pretty purple princess Daphne is on this picture... looking quite dainty right down to the purple flower in her hair.  She was standing real proud, so happy to finally be in school like her big sister!

I really like how this layout turned out, thanks to Creative Scrappers for the awesome sketchy inspiration as a kickstarter!
