Wish (SIWAS DT Reveal)

It's Thursday so time for another DT reveal for Scrap It with a Song!

This month, obviously, the playlist theme has everything to do with CHRISTMAS!  Last week, the PopGals rang in this festive month with Elton John's Step Into Christmas.  Click HERE to check out their creations!  Today, the RockChicks sing along to Train's Shake Up Christmas!  What a fun song, perfect for this time of year!

Here is my layout inspired by the lyrics of this week's tune!

Along with Train's wonderful Christmas song, i was inspired by 2 other challenges when creating this layout.

I used the C'est Magnifique Kits December sketch which is just gorgeous!

And i decided to play along to Berry71bleu "White Christmas" challenge as well.
Their requirement was to create any project as long as it has a white background as a base and is related to Christmas/winter.

For a while now i have admired designers who are able to create pure, soft, elegant layouts and/or cards, using mostly white or cream-colored products.  I find myself wanting to emulate their style, but i never seem to get the hang of it completely.  That is what i tried to do with this layout.  I do need a lot of practice i think, but i do like how it turned out, White Winter and Christmas-y at the same time!

This chipboard pieces i used on this layout (except for the title) are from Imaginarium Designs.  I covered them with DecoArt Snow-Tex and white Acrylic paint.  I covered the background with Snow-Tex too.  Love how it actually looks like real snowflakes!

Thank you so much for visiting!  Make sure to also visit 3 of my favorite blogs today:

And check out Imaginarium Designs chipboard!  I warn you though, you will get addicted just as i am!  You can also see their excellent DT's creations on their BLOG!  Prepare to be inspired!

A Tribute To My Chipboard Addiction!

Yes, you've read it on my blog many times:

I am ADDICTED... to laser-cut chipboard that is!

I have always loved playing with chipboard.  The first time I have seen laser-cut chipboard, I was totally enthralled by the clear cut lines and the endless possibilities.  I love using mists, chalks and glitter to add color to it and I have embossed, cut up, distressed, and even stitched my chipboard pieces.  I especially love chipboard titles and would use them on every single layout I make if I had unlimited supply.

And i am here today to share with you my 10 favorite projects featuring chipboard!  You can see the original blog post for each project by clicking on its title.

On this chipboard door hinge as well as on the birdcage and the golden flags, i used a mixture of Dreamweaver Embossing Paste, Rangers Perfect Pearls, Glimmer Mist and chalk.  You have to just go ahead and try different things.  I never know how it will turn out when i start playing with all these different products, but i usually don't give up and keep adding on until i'm satisfied with the result.

One of my resolution for the new year is to try to create more altered items like this one!  I really want to step out of my comfort zone which is mostly creating layouts.  Chipboard looks awesome on any home decor!

With this layout, i had a lot of fun distressing all the chipboard pieces.  Some of them, i just simply sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and others, i painted and then covered with Glossy Accents to give them a glow.

 #7 Dreamer
This double-page layout dates back to more than a year, but i have to say that it is one of my all-time favorites!  It also shows laser-cut chipboard in all its natural beauty!  Whether you decide to ink, color, spray your chipboard, or just leave it bare, it just adds so much texture, dimension and personality to any project!

I love the chipboard air-balloons on this layout!

Chipboard and crackle paint = a wonderful feast to the eyes!

#4 I Miss
This layout features very finely-cut chipboard pieces.  I spruced them up with gems and pearls and they look royally gorgeous!

A few coats of red paint and this chippie is set a-fire! :)

I created this layout for a challenge requiring us to show how we can alter our favorite pieces of chipboard.  And I won!  I am sure that my frame helped a little.  It's the best part of this layout no doubt.  I just LOVE the way it turned out.  I put a thick coat of gesso that i heated up until it bubbled.  Then i put some crackle paint, heated it up again, followed by distress inks (Forest Moss and Crushed Olive) and some Stickles.

I adore trying different techniques to alter my chipboard and my favorite is covering it with gesso and then heating it up until the gesso bubbles and hardens.  I then have fun using all sorts of inks, mists, glitter, powder, chalk, paste, etc to add color and texture to the chipboard.

Hopefully i inspired you today to pick up some laser-cut chipboard and start creating!

GDT Reveal For My Creative Scrapbook

Finally, today, i get to show you the layouts i created as Guest Designer for My Creative Scrapbook.  Click HERE to see all their wonderful new kits and the awesome creations by their DT and GDT.

My Creative Scrapbook offers not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 different kits each month, and they are all amazing! Read until the end of this post to see pictures!

For my GDT spot, i was given a Limited Edition kit to play with, and let me tell you, this kit was jam packed with amazing products.  This fabulous kit full of KaiserCraft goodness and loads of beautiful embellies!  I was in scrapbooking heaven when i opened my box and discovered all the Prima and Petaloo flowers and the classy elegant KC papers.

The first layout i created is my favorite.  The colors of these papers and embellishments were absolutely perfect for this picture of Yves and I taken at Christmas 2010.  Yes, i do have LOADS of past Christmas pictures that i haven't scrapbooked yet!  I'm not sure i'll ever get caught up!  But this layout takes me one step further... :)

This second layout was based on the current sketch challenge at My Creative Sketches, the sister-blog of My Creative Scrapbook.  They host a sketch challenge every month and offer a fab prize.  Check them out HERE!

My 3rd project can be used as a regular 12x12 layout or, as i intended it to be, can be put in a frame and hung as wall art during the Holidays.  It is actually in a frame holder on my living room buffet right now.  I love it!

With my 4th project, i wanted to demonstrate how you could make a non-Christmasy layout with a Christmas-themed kit.  These papers were perfect for that.  This is my 2nd layout featuring the oh so sweet Sugar who joined our family about 2 months ago.  I've never seen a cat as affectionate as she is... when she wants to be of course! :)

Now, wouldn't you love to have this beautiful kit to create with!?  Believe it or not, the other kits offered by My Creative Scrapbook are just as beautiful!  Before i go, here are pictures of each kit.  Do not hesitate to visit MCS right now to see the rest of the DT's awesome creations and the lovely designs from my co-GDTs this month, Kay and Kristin.  They will be loading tons of "How To's" throughout the month of December, so be sure and check their blog each day for inspiration.

The Limited Edition Kit - Beautiful KaiserCraft
