Adore
(Kaisercraft Sketch & SOS Stash Challenge)

As already mentioned, this is my last week of vacation
(going back to work on Monday already! *SOB*)
and I was able to find some free time to delve into some creativity
and participate in some of the many different monthly challenges that I enjoy.

Take a look at this layout:

As you can probably guess, the products used are from Kaisercraft.
The papers are from the pretty and elegant Betsy's Couture collection.

I was inspired by this sketch for the KAISERCRAFT AUGUST CHALLENGE!

I decided to combine the Kaisercraft challenge with
which is to use a stash item on my layout
for each letter of the word PAPER.

I used:
P - paint, A - arrows, P - pearls, E - enamel dots, R - rub-ons

Along with Kaisercraft papers, I also used their wood veneer title...

and that beautiful old-fashioned clock!

Some of the die-cut shapes are from the 'Hidden Treasure' collection
and the artisan shape paper in the background is from the 'Confetti' line.
The pearls and flowers are also from Kaisercraft.

Hope you enjoy my take on these 2 challenges!

Thank you Kaisercraft & Scrap Our Stash for the inspiration!!

My Sister & Me
(Prima PPP & My Creative Sketches)

Did I tell you that I'm on VACATION?!?

Yes!!  Finally, I am on a much deserved break from work so I get to do
whatever my little heart desires for 2 weeks.  Well, the 1st week is already over
and just basically flew on by as I was having fun with family (my nieces were visiting!!!)
and friends which means I was barely able to scrap and/or blog.

But this week, WATCH OUT!!!
I've locked myself in my scraproom since Sunday evening and I've already created
3 layouts, entries to different challenges that I was really wanting to participate in,
including this one!!

Can you guess just by looking at it by which challenges I was inspired?
*hint hint* The answer is in the title!  haha

First, this is my take on the PRIMA AUGUST PPP which I totally adore!
Those distinctive shades of turquoise and apple green are my absolute favorite.

I also decided to play along with a very special sketch challenge blog
for which I have guest designed numerous times in the past when I was a member
of the My Creative Scrapbook Kit Club DT... MY CREATIVE SKETCHES!
This is the MCS JULY SKETCH, designed by the talented Kristine Davidson:

Obviously, most of the products used on my layout come from Prima!
I have started by creating a mixed media background using a Finnabair stencil,
some textured paste, microbeads and different mists in the shades of the Prima PPP.

I used some Prima Wood Icons which I painted white with a slight touch of blue.
I looked through my stash of Prima flowers and took out all the beautiful turquoise
and green flowers I could find, including Labelle Ocean (565848),
Cigar Box Secrets (578602, 578589), and Lady Godiva's Limeade (557065).

I used strips of some older Prima papers (Alla-Prima Collection "Encaustic" and "Ferrulle")
and adorned my page with Wood Icons, Lace Stickers and SIIC Arrows.

I then stitched a circle around these pretty yet silly sisters (friends' daughters)
in green thread to represent the big circle shape on the MCS sketch.

Thank you Prima and MCS for the inspiration!!

Sweet Happy Days
(CSI #171 & Sketchabilities #144)

As much as I love creating projects every month for my several DTs,
I also enjoy checking all my favorite challenge blogs, bookmarking their current
challenges at the start of the month or on specific release dates and marking down the ones
that peak my creativity the most.  Every month, I hope that I'll be able
to find the time to play along, but alas, I have to pick and choose.

One of my choices so far this month resulted in this 'sweet happy' layout:

I was inspired by CSI Case File No. 171.

If you're never heard of CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenges,
then you are missing out!  They are such a great concept and so much fun!
The basis is to base your layout on a Case File which offers an image
with a Color Scheme (use all colours), a list of Evidence (use at least 3 clues)
and Testimony including a list of journaling ideas.
More details on how I solved this case below!

Inspiration also came from gorgeous Sketch #144 of Sketchabilities.

Using a FabScraps pink with golden brown polkadot background with strips
of darker pink and white cardstock as well as a mixture of light pink, dark pink
and white flowers and embellishments, I was able to incorporate
all the YUMMY colors of the Scheme:
Cherry Vanilla, Strawberry Scoop, Cake Cone, Marshmallow, Waffle Cone.

I included many clues from the Evidence list on my layout:
food accent (cute heart-covered cupcake), wood (cupcake and 'Sweet' title),
banners (created with My Mind's Eye chipboard shapes), dots (on the background paper
and sequins), artisan shapes (framing the 3 pictures and the journaling label),
chevrons & texture paste (stenciling on the background).

For the Testimony, I chose to write my journaling on an artisan shape label (tag).
It is written in French and basically says that since these 2 little girls, all days
are filled with the sweetest smiles.... makes for Sweet Happy Days, as the title states.
I created this page for my friends using pictures of their pretty daughters!

And there you go!

Case #171 has been solved with the help of a beautiful sketch!
Two awesome challenges inspiring a very SWEET layout!

Me & Sugar
(White with 1 DT Reveal - Custard)

This month's color challenge at WHITE WITH 1 has just been revealed today!

Custard... a shade of yellow so soft and subtle,
just like a 'comforting, pleasant embrace'.
One of Pantone's color of the year, it's also described
as 'mellow, warm and evocative of good feelings'.

What is softer and more comforting than a pet's embrace?
My layout is about my cat and I having
some quality kitty time with a selfie stick!

I added some texture to the Bo Bunny background
using a polkadot stencil with molding paste.
I searched my stash for custard-colored embellishments
and found, among other things,
enamel dots, Prima flowers and sequins.

I was happy to find my cat's name, Sugar,
in a wooden title at Michael's. :)

Sugar says CHEESE!

If you want to see lots more 'Custard' inspiration,
