My August 2Crafty DT Reveal - Part 2

Yesterday i shared with you a 2Crafty layout inspired by the ocean....

Today, my project digs deep into the earth as i played around with different metallic finishes.

I went all gold, silver and COPPER with this altered grunge-style frame using a beautiful quote from the Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections collection.  The frame is a wooden frame i bought at my local dollar store.  I started by painting it black, then i added some clear crackle paint.  I then improvised with different paints and inks until i found the right combination of alcohol ink, Liquid Pearls and distress stains.

The Penny Farthing piece was a favorite of mine the first time i saw it.   I was saving it preciously for the perfect project.

With the grunge look being so popular these days, you have to add these chipboard Gears to your stock.

Now a close look at the blooms that i also distressed with a metallic finish.

This is the gorgeous Swirly Bird Branch - i cut off the bird to save it for later of course!  You can also see that i used up the last of my Chicken Wire Panel.

And a final look at that inspirational quote!

Visit the 2Crafty blog for my full monthly reveal which also features this layout that i created and shared with you a few weeks ago.  You can see more details HERE.

See you tomorrow for the long awaited reveal of the August kits from My Creative Scrapbook.

My August 2Crafty DT Reveal - Part 1

Can you believe i'm already done half of my 6-month term with the 2Crafty DT?  The 2Crafty chipboard is so awesome that i hope that i get to stay on the DT until i'm 80!!!  That's not wishful thinking, is it?  hehe  If you haven't already done so, check out all the Summer new releases recently uploaded to the 2Crafty website, and if you like what you see, tell your LSS that they need to get some of this chipboard right now for their customers!

I won't make you wait any longer... here is my first August project:

I don't get to scrapbook yellow and blue very often even though i love those colors.
And with the risk of sounding vain, i have to say that i love this picture of myself.  I seem so carefree, so happy, so... in love with the photographer (my bf Yves hehehe)

Here you can see i used one of the many beautiful 2Crafty titles "Enjoy This Moment, This Moment Is Your Life" which i dabbed with a little white paint and then added just a touch of light yellow.  I treated all the chipboard pieces (except for the mermaid) pretty much the same way.

And of course, you know that I can't help sharing a close-up of the blooms :)

How about these gorgeous Cog Nested Frames?  I love them, and there are so many in a pack that i have lots left over for other projects.

A smaller Cog Frame

I also used some of the Skeleton Leaves which i love so much that i ordered some more for the rest of my stay with the DT.

They come in different sizes and look wonderful tucked behind any flower cluster, no matter the style of your layout.

And now for the main focus of my layout...  the Mermaid

You can't really tell because of the amount of products i ended up using on my mermaid, but i first covered it with layers of the same blue ribbon bordering my page vertically.  I then dabbed it with gesso, blue stain, then a thick coat of Glossy Accents.  Then i sprinkled a little glitter on top and added some white paint to give it a foamy look as if she just dove out of the ocean :P

Hope you will try out these techniques too.

That's it for today.  Come back tomorrow to see another 2Crafty project.

The Color Room GDT - Palette 156

I was thrilled a few months ago when i was asked to join The Color Room as a guest designer.  Check out an exclusive interview with me and the other August GDT on the TCR blog.

Well, now that August is finally here, it's time for me to share my first GDT project using this wonderful palette coming to  you from The Color Room!

Aren't you just in love with these feminine colors and that chabby retro room!?

I'm hoping that you'll be inspired to play along with Palette #156 and link up your project HERE before August 15th.

For this project, i decided to not go the typical 12x12 page route, or not even the double-page which i've always loved to do since i first started scrapbooking.

I made an 8x11 page to fit a white wooden frame that i want to give to a friend of mine who recently had a little girl who she named Briana.

I found that the Bo Bunny Isabella collection matched perfectly with the pink and purple shades of the palette.  I added a bit of beige gold and a little touch of red to make it complete.

Also, because i had a smaller background to work on and a fairly big picture of little Briana, i wasn't able to follow the palette sketch as i would have wanted.  I will definitely save it as inspiration for a future layout though - it's gorgeous!

Let's look at some close-up shots of my layout:

Thank you so much for joining me on my first reveal for The Color Room!

And thanks TCR for having me as a GDT! :)  I will be back with another fantastic palette on August 16th!
