By The Sea
(Scaps of Elegance "By The Sea" Kit)

You have no doubt seen the beautiful August kits from Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance by now!  Well, today, I share with you my first DT reveal using the SOE "By The Sea" kit which is also the title of my layout.

Here is a closer look at the Scraps of Elegance August kit with the Elements and Floral add-ons that I also received to complement the main kit.  If you want to learn more about SOD & SOE kits, click HERE.

As you can see, this kit features some papers that I have had the pleasure of creating with last month during my Blue Fern Studios DT reveals.  The BFS Seaside Cottage collection is so beautiful that I had no problem at all in finding inspiration for new projects using these papers again.

In most of my creations with this kit, I wanted to showcase as much of the patterned paper as possible so I often used the ripping technique to reveal more than one design as my background.  The main kit comes with some cool peachy pink tulle which I cut into pieces and stuffed between the paper layers.

I feel very blessed to live near the sea so it's only a short drive away and it makes for the most beautiful photos.  Here, you see my  niece Daphne enjoying a walk on the seashore.  I framed the picture with loads of Prima flowers and sea-themed embellishments from the kit and add-ons, including real seashells and BFS chipboard.

If you would like to see more projects created with this kit, be sure to come back tomorrow!

This Moment
(Blue Fern Studios September Mood Board)

Sharing with you today my take on a brand new challenge on the Blue Fern Studios blog!

This month, Blue Fern Studios is challenging you to create a project inspired by this gorgeous mood board.  Click HERE for all the details and more DT inspiration!

You may find it strange that despite the mood board giving off a very Summery feel, I was inspired to create a layout all about Autumn.  At the same time, I was incline to show how versatile this mood board is.

I looked through my stash of Blue Fern Studios papers and I found that some of the Autumn Anthology collection went perfectly with the colour palette. I was mainly inspired by the peachy hues which reminded me of Fall leaves and I had just the right picture for it!

I wanted to make my page extra romantic and elegant just as the mood board images, and I find that the Gazebo chipboard piece gives it a warm inviting atmosphere.  I covered it with a mixture of Chili Powder and Tangerine embossing powder after adding a thick layer of gesso and paste.

I made sure to add lots of flowers including a peach Attic Charm Daisy which if my favorite of the constantly growing collection of BFS flowers.

And to soften my whole page to coordinate with the softness of the board, I dabbed some white paint on my papers, flowers, chipboard and embellishments to give it a whitewash effect... inspired by the sea!

Now let's see what the board inspires you to create!  Make sure to link up right HERE.

You can see below one of the 3 pieces of Accent Scrapbooking flair used on my layout!

These fun papers are from Simple Stories.

I normally use white paint to whitewash my creations, but this time around, I wanted to keep the bright colours intact, to go along with the just as bright picture of my nieces in their Minnie Mouse caps.

So Berry Delightful
(More Than Words September DT Reveal)

Oh, where has the Summer gone?!  I know, it's not officially over yet, but to me, September means the imminent coming of the long Winter months!  It has been a super beautiful Summer though here in Canada... very hot and sunny.  So I am looking forward to cool and colourful Autumn days.

But it's still Summer and today I am sharing with you a delicious Summery treat in this layout created for the September More Than Words MAIN Challenge!

Here is this month's challenge board.  It's a yummy one!

word inspiration - DELIGHT
creative challenge - RECIPE

The concept of the More Than Words MAIN challenge is to both be inspired by the word and to incorporate the creative challenge in your project.  Click HERE for all the details on the September challenge along with fabulous DT inspiration and great prizes!

I think it is very obvious this month how the word inspired me.  I decided to create an homage to my very favorite Summer treat... delicious field berries that are a pure DELIGHT for me!  I decided to go with Option B for the creative challenge and followed the art RECIPE by adding a tag, some flair, lots of flowers and some red and pink microbeads.  I made sure to garnish with lots of creativity!

I actually went all the way and used all ingredients listed in Option B... so that means some die-cuts, buttons and some mist too.

Lots of layers covered with juicy looking beads!

I chose papers from the Blue Fern Studios Frolic collection to complement my berry pictures.

Did I make you hungry?!

Well, I hope I gave enough creative cravings to play along with us at More Than Words this month!
